Cabling certifiers

Strategic partnership Keline® & Ideal Industries® & Fluke®

LanTEK® and Fluke® cabling certifiers come standard with firmware containing a Keline® installation cable database. By selecting the model number of a cable, the cabling certifier automatically adjusts its parameters (NVP) and displays them in measurement protocols. This reduces the possibility of errors and simplifies the processing of certification protocols. These devices certify installed cabling, verify the quality of installations and indicate errors caused by non-professional installation. The certifier does not replace certification of already installed components - this must be carried out in special testing laboratories.

Certificates

LanTEK® and Fluke® cabling certifiers are certified by ETL international independent laboratories according to IEC 61935-1 (2nd edition).

Objective of Certification Measurements

The measurements on Cat.6A/ClassEA systems must be done as a Channel using patch cables from the given system. In the case of cabling composed of interoperable Cat.6A/Cat.6A components, two options of measurements are available: Channel measurement (the same as in case of Cat.6A/ClassEA) and Permanent Link measurement. The advantage of Permanent Link measurement  is that the certification can be completed without considering patch cables that will be employed by a user. The Cat.6A/Cat.6A performance is guaranteed for each Cat.6A/Cat.6A patch cable with no need for additional verification or measurements.

All testers comply with international standards as well as the TIA/EIA standard valid in the USA. The US standard considers only unshielded solutions; and thus, the requirements for transmission parameters are set lower. Therefore, when measuring on the installed cabling, it’s always preferred to set testers on the international standard ISO/IEC 11801 (as stated in table). Exceptions:

  • Installations performed in the USA
  • Installations performed in countries where the national standard follows the TIA/EIA standard
  • Installations performed in a headquarter, branch office, or subsidiary of an American company located abroad
Table 2 illustrates the proper settings on testers to certify (measure) installed cabling.
